Pretrip Meetings Update

In our last meeting Eric Walcott from NOAH (The National Organization for the Advancement of Haitians) came to speak to us.  He spoke to us about Haiti before and after the earthquake, the work that NOAH does in Haiti, and he led us in a discussion about Haitian development and foreign aid.  It was a great learning experience for the group, as well as an opportunity to hear from a different voice about what is being done in Haiti.

Preparing for the January Trip!

Here's our first blog post - the first of many.  We hope you are as excited as we are (for this blog but mostly for our trip to Haiti).

To prepare for Port-au-Prince we have been meeting weekly.  Our meetings have covered Haitian development issues, international development in general, Haitian history, and pre- and post-earthquake Haiti.  This week, on Friday December 2nd, we will be hosting a Haitian speaker from the National Organization for the Advancement of Haitians (NOAH).  Hearing about Haiti from a Haitian is going to be an invaluable part of our preparations for the trip.

Stay tuned for information on our group members and more updates on our trip preparations!
